Transcendentalism
The main beliefs of transcendentalism are the quest for truth, individualism, connection to nature, dislike of materialism, intuition and self-reliance. Emerson, the leader of the transcendentalist movement, wrote the essay, Nature, which included the main ideas and philosophical points of transcendentalism.

During Thoreau's jail time he started to question the government and started to resist it more.
